Picture scanning is merely a digital conversion of a picture or image to a computer file.Pictures can be scanned into different formats.Most of today's browsers use 2 kinds of image files called JPEG & GIFs.The newer type of file is called JPEG or JPG.The JPG file takes a little more room than the GIF file but gives you a better quality picture on the screen. Both types are easily read by Netscape,Microsoft Explorer,American Online & Compuserve.the list below are the most common computer file fromats & how they are normally used.Simply decide which format is right for you & note it on our order form.Thank you.

1. JPEG-joint interchange format mostly used for uploading photots to the internet.The file size is smaller reducing download time by the user.Perfect for e-mailing pictures to your friends & family.

2. GIF-graphics interchange format is best used for high contrast images,screen shots,& text.gif scans result in a more detailed image than jpeg,but the downside is that they can only be saved with 256 colors.If you are creating a web page that you want to use the transparency option with your image,Allowing other parts of your webpage to show through,gif is the format to use.  

3. TIFF-Tagged image file format,Used when scanning pictures up to 300dpi.When ordering scanned images to be returned on cd, we use TIFF format unless otherwise noted by  the customer.Image scans result in a larger files & of higher quality.TIFF files are better for image editing & then later converted into JPEG's,This way you save a higher quality image.

4. BMP-Windows bitmap,Use to create wallpaper or background image on your desktop computer.
